Остров Лидо расположенный недалеко от Венеции, который с начала 20 века преобразовался в один из главных курортов Италии. Его берега, омываемые морем Адриатики, очень ценят туристы всего мира. Среди зданий острова выделяются: Конференц-зал, где каждый год проводится знаменитый фестиваль кинематографа и гостиница Excelsior — самая известная и роскошная на острове. Остров Лидо переживает сезон туризма между июлем и сентябрем. В течение оставшейся части года многие из его отелей закрыты.

Туристы, путешествующие на машине, предпочитают останавливаться на этом острове. Это единственное место в лагуне, которое имеет шоссе. По острову можно путешествовать на автобусе, но более популярный вид транспорта — велосипед. Пляжи открывались постепенно, и в начале 20 века остров Лидо превратился в один из самых модных берегов Европы. Его часто посещали королевские семьи, известные артисты и писатели; обосновывались в больших отелях, купались в море или просто отдыхали, сидя в гамаке рядом со знаменитыми полосатыми хижинами.

Лидо уже не обладает тем престижем, который у него был в тридцатых годах. Сейчас это неугомонный и шумный пляж, как и любой другой на Средиземном море. Однако спортивные сооружения и любопытные лагуны делают его привлекательным для туристов. Добраться до пляжа можно на автобусе, такси или пешком, наслаждаясь панорамой Gran Viale Santa Maria Elizabetta. Лучшие пляжи находятся в Lungomare G. Marconi. Также можно посетить Malamocco,с его приятными ресторанами или Alberoni с полем для гольфа и одним из небольшого количества публичных пляжей.

Единственный квартал культурного интереса, которым обладает остров Лидо — Сан Николо, который находится в северной части Лидо. Там можно посетить церковь и монастырь Сан Николо, построенные в 1044 году, или еврейское кладбище 1386 года. Возможно ознакомиться с крепостью Sant’Andrea на острове Vignole. Вообще, на острове царит спокойная атмосфера, поэтому он прекрасно подходит тем, кто хочет уединиться или провести отпуск в кругу семьи. Тем, кто заскучает на острове, можно посоветовать посетить Верону, Падую, озеро Гарда или пройтись по Венеции.

На остров Лидо можно добраться на самолете, там есть небольшой аэропорт, на машине через паром. В любом случае, тот, кто находится в Венеции, может воспользоваться вапоретто, который доставит любого на этот прекрасный остров за считанные минуты. Вапоретто — самый практичный транспорт.
